  • ‘Enhanced’ PLAs have a bad reputation, some are no better than PLA, some perform worse in some conditions. We’ve taken a different approach: our ‘regular’ PLA is regarded as the strongest pure PLA in the industry, it’s hard to improve on the best. But sometimes you need something a little more durable. Enter our specially formulated PLA Plus. Prints like PLA, but with better durability.
  • Note: While not stronger or harder than our regular PLA, our PLA Plus is designed for applications where you need that enhanced durability, or even a little flex over standard PLA. This is a very tough PLA, it will never snap or shatter* – it will just eventually slowly deform. *Not tested in -0°C conditions.

What is PLA Plus?

PLA Plus is the new and improved PLA! It is easy to print with and biodegradable like PLA but more durable than ABS. 

*NOTE: Some printers do prefer lower temperatures for rigid.ink PLA Plus+ 200-210°C, bed temp 40°C. If your test print is looking a little too runny and the layers aren't cooling enough try lowering your temperatures.

Why rigid.ink?

We became so tired of the hordes of terrible quality PLA 3D printer filaments flooding the market, we decided to release our own. You need a PLA filament you can rely on, something that won't ever jam your head and produce flawless prints, every time.

Accurately represented colours, near-perfect tolerances and excellent raw material quality was our aim. It wasn't easy, but we're confident we've produced a 3D printer filament to be proud of. In fact, we'd be surprised if you found better.

Using the most technologically advanced equipment and the finest raw materials, we produce a consistent filament with a tolerance of just 0.03mm either side of the 1.75mm diameter we promise. We know it's good, we test it thoroughly with lasers.

Cooling Fans: 100% after layer 1 or 2
Ideal build chamber: None, all covers and doors removed.

Good ventilation is essential and do not leave print unattended.

Printing screw threads

I have used the PLA Plus+ for printing a number of mountings and adaptors for an optical lab. In particular adaptor rings for filters and mid infra red lenses. The slight elasticity of the polymer allows split rings to be expanded around filters and then snap back to secure then. The most impressive to me is that I can print fine microscope threads that will screw to metal threads on other parts, both internal and external, some with 0.5mm thread pitch. There are so many different fine threads used that being able to print them is a great benifit. I have tried standard PLA before but find that makes threads too brittle and also seems to bind too much. I use an Ultimaker 2+ and fine the PLA Plus+ to feed well and print very reliable with good bed adhesion on the clean glass for large area prints and using a little glue for small and tall prints.

First class delivery arrived next day, PETG filament is great no problems printing and good quality prints. Still to try PLA+ but have used similar from others and doesn't seem to cause any problems so not expecting any issues. Main reason for trying new filament is because of many failed ABS Prints.

Brilliant stuff!

I recently thought I'd give PLA Plus a try as I was having a hard time with ABS. I think this filament is fantastic. I print on an Ultimaker 2+ at 190C and bed temp of 60C and I have no problems at all with adhesion to the bed without any glue or tape etc. The prints come out smooth and sharp and adhesion to the plate is so good I have to wait until it's completely cool and then run the plate under the cold tap to get the prints off.
Can't recommend this filament enough. Give it a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
