  • Other PLA 3D filaments are a good starter material. Although regarded as easy to use, they’re commonly seen as weak, brittle and inconsistent. We felt we could do better, much better. Our PLA uses a special pure grade resin that prints at lower temperatures (from 180°C). Sure, this saves electricity (yawn) but more importantly, it allows for a surprisingly strong and durable print with excellent layer-to-layer adhesion.
  • Our all-natural biopolymer is free from contaminants and is also long term biodegradable. So while it may not be suitable for prolonged outdoor use, rest assured that wrong-sized customer prototype won’t stay in landfill for years to come.

What makes our PLA (Polylactic Acid) different?

 Pure Formula

Many PLA filaments may have inconsistencies or contaminants. This is a problem, because it can mean some parts or sections of your filament can have varying extruding temperatures, leading to blockages.

Consistent Diameter (0.03 mm +/- ) What's often overlooked is the importance of maintaining a consistent diameter of the filament. If it's too wide in places, this again can stop your extruder from extruding. Thin sections can cause under extrusion.
Excellent Layer Adhesion Our PLA filament produces a full­ strength print with excellent layer adhesion, meaning layer separation is a thing of the past.
NO stringing or blobbing Due to our pure formulations (we have a strict no contaminants rule) your prints will come out with no stringing, or blobbing and excellent detail.
Colour

The colour you see in the photo is the exact colour you'll receive. Not only that, it won't look washed out after the heat from the extruding process either. Leaving you with rich, vibrant prints.
Strength Our PLA is surprisingly strong, meaning it's ideal for printing actually usable parts and prototypes.

Settings Guide
Printing Temperature: Start at 185°C
Bed Temperature: Off-45°C
Bed Adhesion: Blue decorators tape or Kapton Tape. Use glue stick for extra adhesion if needed.
Print Speed: 30-40 mm/s (higher speeds may need slightly hotter printing temp, up to 210°C)
Cooling Fans: 100% from layer two onward
Ideal build chamber: None, remove all covers and doors.

Good ventilation is essential and do not leave print unattended.

Only used a couple of different filaments I had no problems printing this no issues at all you can tell it's a quality filament this is the second lot of PLA I have tried from rigid.ink and planning my third purchase

PLA prints at 100 mm/sec

Good results with printing the white PLA at 100 mm/sec on a UM2 with temperature 220 C and bed temperature of 60 C.
First layer is like glass.

great filament

I used to use colorfabb but have switched to rigid ink as it's a little cheaper and i think the layer adhesion is possibly even better. I use 1kg reels which don't fit on my ultimakers but the rigid ink box doubles as a spool holder which is handy, I just stick a bit of metal tube in the centre.
